Confidentiality

The law protects therapeutic relationships between clients and therapists BUT there are a FEW EXCEPTIONS listed below:

  • If child abuse, dependent adult abuse, or elder abuse is suspected I am required by law to report the abuse to the appropriate authorities.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person(s). I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
  • If a client intends to harm themselves, I will make every attempt to engage and collaborate their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further actions without their permission that are provided to me by law to ensure their safety.
